ABOUT MR. BELL
David Bell’s experience in the residential, commercial, and industrial roofing industry spans over forty years where he began as a laborer / field employee for a family-owned and operated roofing business.
Mr. Bell has an extensive knowledge of residential, commercial, and industrial roofing and re-roofing operations and systems, including a vast knowledge of roof-related sheet metal work.
Upon graduating from Tulane University in 1991, Mr. Bell began full-time employment with the family-owned business, assuming the role of CEO in 1994, and the role of President shortly thereafter, where he was responsible for managing crews, and the assessment, bidding, negotiation, and construction of roofing projects.
In January 2003, Mr. Bell served as one of three Court appointed Special Masters in Allianz Insurance Co. vs. City of New Orleans, United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, Section J, Civil Action No. 02-368 c/w 02-369, 02-370 & 02-491.
In November 2004, Mr. Bell was appointed a Special Master in the case The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. vs. Centimark Corporation, 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson, Division D, Judge Robert M. Murphy Case No. 574-240.
Mr. Bell also served as a member of the Atlas Roofing Corporation – Customer Advisory Council during 2005 and 2006.
In late 2019, after more than four decades on the contracting side of the roofing business and with more than 29 years of consulting experience and a fifteen-year working relationship with Jim D. Koontz, Mr. Bell accepted a full-time position as a Senior Consultant with Jim D. Koontz & Associates, Inc. (JDKA) to assist Mr. Koontz and Mr. White with the transition of the company from Jim D. Koontz & Associates, Inc. to KWA Engineering & Building Science Co., Inc.
As an Executive Senior Consultant with KWA, Mr. Bell’s duties include, but are not limited to, the forensic evaluation of roof assemblies, failure investigations, non-destructive and destructive surveys, appraisal and umpire work, and storm damage evaluations. Mr. Bell’s work takes him across the continental United States. He is based out of Dallas, Texas and New Orleans, LA.
